Candle Care Guide | The Bodacious Shop

Get the most out of your hand-poured candle with a few simple care steps. Proper candle care helps improve burn performance, scent throw, and overall candle life.

1. Let the first burn melt edge to edge
On the first burn, allow the melted wax pool to reach the edges of the jar. This usually takes about 2 to 3 hours. This helps prevent tunneling and supports a more even burn over time.

2. Trim the wick before each burn
Before relighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. A properly trimmed wick helps reduce soot, keeps the flame steady, and extends the life of your candle.

3. Do not burn longer than 4 hours at a time
For best results, burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This helps protect the fragrance, the jar, and the quality of the burn.

4. Burn on a stable, heat-safe surface
Always place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface and keep it away from drafts, children, pets, curtains, and flammable objects.

5. Expect natural wax variations
Because our candles are made with a premium coconut-soy wax blend, you may notice frosting or wet spots. These are normal characteristics of natural wax and do not affect performance.

6. Reuse your candle jar
Once your candle is finished, freeze the jar to help loosen leftover wax, then wash it with warm soapy water. Reuse it for makeup brushes, pens, matches, or keepsakes.
